In 1999 the Celtic Tiger was roaring and business was booming in Ireland. But for the regulars at the Black Pool, a run-down Dublin pub, the influx of new money comes at a terrible price. Can a well worn pub survive the onslaught of trendy shops and big money? What becomes of old friends, old homes and old bonds when it's time to chuck out the old and make way for the new? Dublin playwright Jimmy Murphy--author of Banshee's lauded production of The Kings of the Kilburn High Road-- explores this dramatic collision with humor, compassion and more than a few pints of Guinness.
