The Browning Version
LA Theatre Works
( 06/21/2012 - 06/24/2012 )
Running Time: 85 minutes
Professor Andrew Crocker-Harris has never mastered the fine art of popularity at the British public school where he teaches. His students regard him as a Hitler, his wife Laura is unfaithful and lives to wound him, and his superiors are forcing his retirement. Terrence Rattigan’s 1948 masterpiece is a brilliant exploration of the human heart. Predating Edwards Albee’s Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? in its scathing examination of marriage and a contemporary of Noël Coward and Somerset Maugham, Rattigan’s wit and depth are remarkable - as well as timeless.
