The Rabbi & The Shiksa
Secret Rose Theatre
( 10/05/2012 - 11/18/2012 )
Running Time: 120 MINUTES
A revival of the wildly popular THE RABBI & THE SHIKSA, a play about scandal, romance, duty, and true friendship. Rabbi Jacob Persky, a widower, has been at Temple Judea for many years and is perhaps a little too comfortable in his post. He makes decisions about temple business that aren’t his alone to make, and takes positions on issues that cause some members of his congregation to hope to “get” him. When the Rabbi meets the appealing Theresa, who wants to sell carpet to the temple, he is immediately attracted. There’s only one problem – Theresa isn’t Jewish! She’s a “shiksa”, with unusual spiritual beliefs the Rabbi can’t begin to understand. Despite themselves, the Rabbi and Theresa become romantically involved. When word spreads about the relationship, things around the temple will never be the same. Neither will the Rabbi, or the “shiksa”.
