Due to recent developments pertaining to how theatre workers are classified (independent contractors vs. employees) throughout California, and how these classifications are affecting our community, we joined our friends at California Lawyers for the Arts to present a panel and information session on the following:
–How and why are theatres being flagged by the Employee Development Department (EDD)?
–What ramifications from an EDD audit may affect an organization’s relationship with the IRS?
–How can an organization protect itself and its employees?
There was also a Q&A session following the panel for the audience to pose specific questions to panelists.
